In June 2009 the House of the Sea’s information center was opened. It is situated next to the Replot Bridge – gateway to the World Heritage Site of The Kvarken Archipelago. Since 2006 Kvarken is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. The House of the Sea informs visitors about the World Heritage together with activities, services and current events in the Archipelago of Kvarken.
The information center is open during the summer, from June to August, every day of the week. Tourists and others, who are interested, can turn to us for an introduction to the Natural Heritage, guidance and tips on activities and things worth seeing during a stay in the archipelago. It is also possible to call the House of the Sea for information. The office is well equipped with data connections and lots of information. The staff is always willing to help you, and will if necessary give advice on where further information can be found.
Also local associations and firms within the tourist business can turn to the House of the Sea, if they wish to have information about their events/services displayed at the tourist office. The House of the Sea is interested in being able to offer information on a variety of current events in the Archipelago of Kvarken.
During the upcoming years, the House of the Sea will be located in the wooden cottage next to the restaurant Berny’s. Simultaneously the planning of the permanent, future House of the Sea on Bergskäret (the island approximately 50 meters south of the Bridge of Replot) proceeds. Our vision is a center of gatherings and information, from which both tourists and local businesses will benefit.
